It seems that this Kanye West/Taylor Swift controversy is finally about to die down – after all, as horribly behaved as Kanye West is, after a man issues four apologies, there’s not much more to say. But things just wouldn’t be complete without hearing what the president has to say about it. And now, audio has leaked of President Obama calling Kanye West a jackass. Now if only he’d tweeted his opinion on Sunday, President Obama would really be hip.

Shortly before a CNBC interview got started on Monday, reporter John Harwood asked the president if his daughters were upset by Kanye rudely interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. Obama didn’t comment on his daughters’ feelings on the matter but he did make his own feelings perfectly clear. Not realizing he was being recorded, the president said, “I thought that was really inappropriate. You know, it was like, she’s getting an award and what are you butting in? … The young lady seems like a perfectly nice person, she’s getting her award and what’s he doing up there?
