Mackenzie Phillips will reveal a 31-year old family secret to Oprah while Dancing with the Stars contestant Kelly Osbourne opened up to Ellen DeGeneres. “Dancing with the Stars contestant Kelly spoke about the pressures that pushed her into drug abuse and revealed people used to drive by her house just to call her fat. In a frank new interview, the reality TV star told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres her mother Sharon Osbourne was the “best mum in the world” as she can talk to her about “everything”.

But she said she could not even go to her about her drug abuse problems. “I didn’t even want to tell my parents because my mum was in a relationship with my dad for years and years and years where she tried to get him sober. And I was completely ashamed that I would have to go to her and tell her her daughter also had issues.”

She continued: “I started experimenting with drugs when I was 13, but by the time we started doing [TV show] The Osbournes I was really a full-blown drug addict. “It was a time of my life where suddenly I was famous. I would open up magazines and it would be like ‘the fat daughter of The Osbournes’. “I had things to the extreme where people would drive by our house… and shout ‘you’re fat and ugly and we hate you!’ It was a lot for me to handle and I didn’t handle it very well.”

Sitting next to her Dancing With The Stars partner Louis Van Amstel, she also said she was training so much for the new show she would forget to eat and get sick. “The whole concept of eating for me is difficult because if I’m not hungry I don’t eat and I kept getting sick and throwing up.” But Van Amstel said he is now looking after her diet, to have her come out of the show “stronger than when she came in”.
